About Course

This course introduces students to the subject of philosophy. It begins with how philosophy can be defined in terms of its nature and task, then to its major branches. After providing such definitions it introduces students to the origin of western philosophy from the Father of western philosophy Thales and the rest of the pre-Socratics then on to the Greek Humanists, namely, the Sophists; Socrates; Plato and Aristotle. Students are introduced to the philosophical views and contributions of these ancient Greek philosophers who have initiated and developed what we know as western philosophy. These studies are important because much of our present day social, political and economic theories and systems have their roots in the philosophical discourses of those ancient philosophers and they are still valid and valuable for our lives today.

Content The Academic Integrity Module is a compulsory zero credit point module in all Faculty of Business and Law courses. The module learning and assessment activities provide students with guidance on what constitutes academic integrity. It will allow students to develop knowledge, skills and good practice principles to avoid plagiarism and collusion and thereby maintain academic integrity.

Academic Induction for the Bachelor of Business Analytics
Content This zero credit point unit aims to provide students enrolling in the Bachelor of Business Analytics an academic induction to the course, in particular, to ensure that: 1. Students are competent users of the range of communication and collaboration software tools and systems used across the core curriculum and at the course level 2. Students have an understanding of the commitment required to complete the significant work integrated learning component in the core curriculum and plan in advance 3. Students are given an orientation to the course and its delivery and the study commitment required for successful completion of the course. 4. Students are introduced and enrolled into the course level engagement platform used in the Bachelor of Business Analytics.
